Austria is a country full of history in which most of the cities keep its charm due to their historic centers. Nowadays they have been set up for walking tours, so that the citizen’s life is conducted in a clean and quiet environment. For this reason, we recommend you to wear appropriate and comfortable shoes, because our tours include visits to many cities that will be covered as a walking tour.

Austria is located in a temperate climatic zone with a Central European climate influenced by the Atlantic climate. The four seasons (Spring, Summer, Fall and Winter) each have typical temperature and climatic characters.
Due to the topographical diversity and the relatively large west-east expanse, there are three quite different climatic regions. In the Alpine Region they have a alpine climate, that means a high precipitation, short summers and long winters. In the remainder of the country, the is a transient climate influenced by the Atlantic (in the West) and a continental influence in the South-east. Before starting your walk or hike in the mountains please inform yourself about the weather conditions, danger of avalanges or route conditions. Warnings of locals should not be disregarded.
The best time for hiking and walking tours or to visit a city is from April to October. The peak season for summer vacation is July and August. The best time to enjoy your winter vacation is from December to March.
It is convenient to bring light clothes for summer, and warm ones for winter. It is also convenient to have a raincoat as part of the luggage, no matter the time of the year in which you travel and sweater is necessary almost any time of year.

On trips will be transported a medium-sized piece of baggage with a maximum weight of 30 kg per person, free of charge. Transportation of excess baggage is subject to space availability. We recommend that travelers remain present at all times when their baggage is being handled, and make a timely claim to the transport companies or the hotels, when you notice any deficiency, damage or disappearance of their belongings. In case you forget personal stuff please keep in mind that it is not the responsibility of the operator to cover the cost of return.

The hotels of our tours are carefully chosen. In most cases are located in the city center and the breakfast is always included. The hotel rooms in Austria do not usually have air-conditioning as standard. The hotels usually offer only single rooms and double rooms, not triple, but in special cases it is possible to add an extra bed or sofa bed.
During trade fairs, conferences and special events, the accommodation can be located on the outskirts of the cities. Tours and excursions are usually not affected by these events.

In Austria tips are commonplace in restaurants, bars, also for drivers. Since the introduction of the Euro, a tip (Trinkgeld, lit. "Drink money") of about 5-10% is customary if you were satisfied with the service. For the drivers we recommend leaving EUR 1-2 per day, for the chambermaids in the hotels EUR 1-2 and guides EUR 2-3 per day per person.  A tip is therefore mainly a matter of politeness and shows your appreciation. If you didn't appreciate the service (e.g. slow, snippy or indifferent service) you may not tip at all and it will be accepted by the staff.

The speed limit in urban areas is 50km/h, on national roads 100km/h, on highways the speed limit is 130km/h. The Austrian highways are all toll roads. To pay the toll, drivers must purchase a sticker (a toll sticker for 10 consecutive days costs €8.50).  It is mandatory to wear seat belts in both front seats as well as back seats. It is also mandatory to have a warning triangle and a first aid kit.

The tour operator reserves the right to change the order of routes if necessary to improve its service. If circumstances beyond our control and not allow us to meet the original schedule provided. (Also in case of big events/conferences/festivals etc.).
